Hiking in the Wicklow Mountains

We’ve been reading up on all the scenic trails near us and decided to check out the terrain in Wicklow Mountains National Park. The girls and I filled our water bottles, grabbed some granola bars and loaded Hank into the car for a day of exploring. The experience left us in awe of Ireland’s natural beauty. From rocky cliffs and gentle hills to giant ferns and rushing streams, we spent three hours falling in love with our surroundings.

The national park has a trailhead in Glendalough, which is about 35 miles south of Dublin. The girls report that the drive to the mountains is gorgeous. I, however, had the steering wheel in a death grip while navigating cliffside hairpin turns on a very narrow two-lane road. I’m still not sure how we passed by double-decker tour buses without incident! Once we made it (safely) to the trails, Zoe mapped out our route and we embarked on our adventure. Enjoy the views!

  1. Beautiful pics Jen! Looks like you are starting to enjoy beautiful Ireland! Very impressed with your driving skills! I never got used to the narrow roads and big tour busses and I wasn’t driving!!
